- Outline the morbidity, mortality, and economic burden of adult vaccine preventable diseases in the U.S.
- Explain the adult immunization coverage rates and detail the barriers to adult immunizations
- Define the current and changing landscape for adult immunizations and identify strategies to improve coverage rates to include the new herpes zoster immunization
Dr. Tan is chief strategy officer of the Immunization Action Coalition and co-founder and co-chair of the National Adult and Influenza Immunization Summit. He has served as a voting member of the Department of Health and Human Services’ National Vaccine Advisory Committee, where he served on the adult immunization, vaccine safety and healthcare worker immunization working groups, and chaired the immunization infrastructure working group. He has served for more than 10 years as the AMA’s liaison to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, where he served on the influenza, pneumococcal, zoster and adult immunization working groups.
