HHQI Announcements and Updates – June 2018

Each month, the health care industry spotlights a variety of health-related topics to heighten awareness, increase education, or recognize the contributions of professional groups. In June, we recognize the following observances:
To help your organization promote these observances, the Home Health Quality Improvement National Campaign (HHQI) offers an abundance of tools and resources, educational videos and webinars, and online courses with continuing education credits at no cost or obligation to you. Please mark your calendars and take advantage of these evidence-based resources and events offered by the Home Health Quality Improvement (HHQI) national campaign at no cost to you or your organization:
  • June 14: Last day to Close out your HHCDR in order to receive your personalized Home Health Cardiovascular Data Registry (HHCDR) Report around June 23.
  • June 15: HHCDR patient data will be available starting this day for the next month.
  • Third Thursday, June 21, noon-1 p.m. MT/11 a.m.-noon PT: Cardiovascular Learning and Action Network (CardioLAN) Webinar - Please join Chelsea Leonard, PharmD, and Matt Holland, PharmD, as they present, “Statin Therapy for the Prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease.”
After this free, 60-minute webinar, participants will be able to:
    - Differentiate between the different three common types of cholesterol
    - Define clinical atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD)
    - Identify the four patient populations who benefit from statin therapy
    - Describe how to integrate evidence-based medicine principles with patients who have clinical ASCVD
    - State 2 non-pharmacologic options to supplement & manage statin therapy
    - Explain 2 additional effects of statin therapy beyond cholesterol management
Corresponding HHQI University course is pending approval for 1.25 continuing education credits for nurses (ANCC). To receive CE credit, participants must watch the 60-minute webinar and complete an additional 15 minutes of related coursework in HHQI University. 

  • Coming July 19, noon-1 p.m. MT/11 a.m.-noon PT: Underserved Population Learning and Action Network (UP LAN) Webinar: Strategies to Care for Patients in Rural Settings.” This webinar will discuss several common barriers and strategies for home health agencies caring for patients in rural areas. Awaiting approval of 1.25 hours of nursing CEs through the Alabama State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
