Meaningful Use Attestation Deadline Fast Approaching

Attestation for Eligible Providers (EPs) for 2016 Meaningful Use (MU) will close on March, 13, 2017. We at HealthInsight want you to be successful submitting your attestation and are here to help. Here is a checklist to help you gather the right information for your attestation:
  1. Attestation must be done for each Physician by the end of February. Here is the site to start the attestation; it also has the dates.
    1. Note – the provider’s NPPES name and password are used to access the attestation site above. If you do not have the NPPES information, contact NPPES or use their online help:
  2. You will be attesting to a few things:
    1. A completed Security Risk assessment
    2. Completion of two of three public health reporting options (you will need an email or letter with the phrase “active engagement” and a 2016 date from each organization for audit purposes)
      1. Immunization registry
      2. Cancer registry
      3. Syndromic Surveillance
    1. The MU measures *
    2. Nine quality measures over three domains*
*You must pull 2016 data spanning at least 90 days.

In general, if you put something into the attestation system, you will need to keep the corresponding documentation in case of an audit. HealthInsight’s advice is to keep documentation for each one of the steps A-D. HealthInsight encourages clinics to consider paper records in addition to electronic ones, and backups are encouraged.
