Utah Nursing Home Recipients Announced for the 2014 HealthInsight Quality Award
HealthInsight program encourages excellence in health care
Sandy, September 23, 2014 Four Utah nursing homes are being recognized today for demonstrating excellence in providing quality care.
HealthInsight, a non-profit, community-based health care consulting organization, working to improve health and health care for patients and providers, presented the HealthInsight Quality Award to four nursing homes from across the state of Utah. The HealthInsight Quality Award recognizes nursing homes for demonstrating excellence in a number of quality care measures.
In order to meet criteria for this quality award, nursing homes had to rank in the top 25 percent of performers in the State, based on MDS 3.0 Quality Measures from Nursing Home Compare, as well as demonstrate a successfully implemented quality improvement program in their building.
"It is a pleasure for us to honor these outstanding nursing homes that are working hard to improve health care quality and outcomes for residents of Utah," said Juliana Preston, Executive Director for HealthInsight Utah. "Their commitment to excellence in health care delivery is evidenced by their achievement of this award."
The award recipients were recognized at the annual Utah Health Care Association Fall Convention in Sandy, Utah.
The 2014 award recipients are:
- Avalon West Health & Rehabilitation - Salt Lake City
- Richfield Rehab and Care Center - Richfield
- St. Joseph Villa - Salt Lake City
- Willow Wood Care Center - Holladay
The HealthInsight Quality Award Program was launched in September 2004 to promote transparency in health care. According to the Institute of Medicine, transparency in health care is defined as a system that is "accountable to the public, works openly, makes results known, and builds trust through disclosure." By using available quality data to identify high performing providers and publicizing the results, HealthInsight aims to help providers improve health care and help patients become more active and informed participants in that care.
