New Joint Commmision Antimicrobial Stewardship Standard

The National Quality Forum reports that The Joint Commission announced new standards that will require accredited hospitals and nursing homes in the United States to implement antimicrobial stewardship programs, effective Jan. 1, 2017. The new standards, announced in June, are in liine with the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) proposal to make antibiotic stewardship programs a Medicare condition of participation.
