Utah Nursing Homes Receive 2016 HealthInsight Quality Award
Program Encourages Excellence in Patient Care
Sandy, Sept. 27, 2016—Four Utah nursing homes are being recognized today for demonstrating excellence in providing quality care.
HealthInsight, a nonprofit, community-based health care collaborative working to improve health and health care for patients and providers, will present the 2016 HealthInsight Quality Award to four nursing homes from across the state. Awardees will be recognized at the annual Utah Health Care Association Fall Convention in Sandy, Utah.
The 2016 award recipients are:
- George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home - Ogden
- Heritage Hills Rehabilitation and Care Center - Nephi
- Rocky Mountain Care Willow Springs - Tooele
- Willow Glen Health and Rehab - Brigham City
In order to meet criteria for this quality award, nursing homes had to rank in the top 25 percent of performers in the state, based on MDS 3.0 Quality Measures from Nursing Home Compare, as well as demonstrate a successfully implemented quality improvement program in their facility.
"We are honored to recognize these outstanding nursing homes and the work they are doing to improve health care quality and patient care for the residents of Utah," said Juliana Preston, HealthInsight Utah executive director. "Their commitment to excellence in health care delivery is evidenced by their achievement of this award."
The HealthInsight Quality Award Program was launched in September 2004 to promote transparency in health care. According to the Institute of Medicine, transparency in health care is defined as a system that is "accountable to the public, works openly, makes results known, and builds trust through disclosure." By using available quality data to identify high-performing providers and publicizing the results, HealthInsight aims to help providers improve health care and help patients become more active and informed participants in that care.
