Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN)

The HealthInsight Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) is one of 16 programs nationwide involved with the Partnership for Patients (PfP) campaign that began in 2011. Under the first five years of the PfP model, the campaign worked toward a bold aim of reducing preventable patient harm by 40 percent and all-cause readmissions by 20 percent. Moving forward, HIINs will aim to achieve new goals, which will be a 20 percent reduction in all-cause patient harm and a 12 percent reduction in 30-day readmissions.

HealthInsight in Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Utah will engage the hospital, provider and broader caregiver communities to quickly implement well-tested and measured best practices. The HIIN will focus on the 11 areas of harm, including, but not limited to:
  1. Adverse drug events (ADE)
  2. Central line-associated blood stream infections (CLABSI)
  3. Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI)
  4. Clostridium difficile (C. diff) and Antibiotic Stewardship
  5. Injury from falls and immobility
  6. Pressure ulcers
  7. Sepsis and septic shock
  8. Surgical site infections (SSI)
  9. Venous thromboembolism (VTE)
  10. Ventilator-associated events (VAE)
  11. Readmissions
